Sugar Mountain Resort is located in the Great Smoky mountain town of Banner Elk and provides over 110 acres of skiing and snowboarding trails. The resort includes 20 trails and eight lifts. Snowboarding and skiing lessons are available for adults and children. Snow tubing, night skiing and snow shoeing activities are also facilitated at Sugar Mountain. Hour of operations at Sugar Mountain are 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. every night of the week during the ski season, which runs from November to March. The summer months at Sugar Mountain allows guests to participate in hiking activities as well as tennis and golf at the resort's 18-hole course. Cabin accommodations are also available for guests who wish to lodge at Sugar Mountain Resort.

Appalachian Ski Mountain offers four chalets, known at the resort as "Slopeside Lodging," that include a living room area and fully furnished kitchen. The chalets are available year-round.
