North Carolina Ski Lodges

North Carolina offers many tourist attractions, from historical sites to outdoor recreational parks. The southeastern state features many geographical terrains, such as beaches and mountains. The two main mountain ranges are the Appalachian Mountains and the Blue Ridge Mountain. Both offer large ski resorts and lodges ideal for ski and snowboarding vacations.
  1. Wolf Ridge Ski Resort

    • Located just minutes from Ashville, North Carolina, this family-friendly resort offers a terrain park, tubing park, quad lift, and 82 acres of ski area. There are two lodges at the resort, including a lower lodge and upper lodge. Both feature large stone fireplaces and dining establishments. The lower lodge has a grill restaurant and can easily accommodate large groups. The upper lodge features panoramic sunset views, a steak restaurant and is ideal for families and walk-in guests.

    Sugar Mountain Ski Resort

    • Sugar Mountain is the biggest ski resort area in North Carolina, and it features a 10,000 square foot outdoor ice skating rink, snowshoeing opportunities, a 700-foot long tubing park, racing program and the largest vertical drop in the state. The onsite base lodge offers a lounge, sports shop and locker room. It has ski and snowboard rentals and a gift shop for visitors. The lodge also features the "Last Run Lodge" area with adult beverages, televisions and a fireplace.

    Sapphire Valley Ski Area

    • Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, this ski resort features a frozen falls tube park, a state-of-the-art quad lit and 1,600 foot main run with a 200-foot vertical drop. Visitors to the ski area can spend time at the rustic, mountain-style base lodge. It has a stone fireplace and a restaurant and snack bar. The lodge also offers a clothing shop and ski clothing rentals. There is also a onsite recreation center that offers complimentary use of a jacuzzi, indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, game room and exercise room.

    Appalachian Ski Mountain

    • This North Carolina ski resort has been open since 1962, and offers 10 slopes, a panoramic outdoor ice arena and three terrain parks. The resort also features night skiing. The 46,000 square foot ski lodge features a 200-foot long observation deck, as well as restaurant with views of the ski slope. It also has a fireplace, TV room, three dining rooms, game room and nursery. Visitors may utilize its dressing rooms, ATM machine and more than 700 lockers. There is also an onsite equipment rental store and gift shop.
