Sugar Mountain is the biggest ski resort area in North Carolina, and it features a 10,000 square foot outdoor ice skating rink, snowshoeing opportunities, a 700-foot long tubing park, racing program and the largest vertical drop in the state. The onsite base lodge offers a lounge, sports shop and locker room. It has ski and snowboard rentals and a gift shop for visitors. This North Carolina ski resort has been open since 1962, and offers 10 slopes, a panoramic outdoor ice arena and three terrain parks. The resort also features night skiing. The 46,000 square foot ski lodge features a 200-foot long observation deck, as well as restaurant with views of the ski slope.
