Fire Mountain Inn and Cabins is a secluded resort area surrounded by mountains. Fire Mountain features both an inn and fully equipped luxury cabins with many guest amenities. Six cabins and three treehouses are offered in addition to rooms at the inn. Cabins vary in size and number of beds and baths but include native stone fireplaces, jetted tubs for one or two guests, overstuffed furniture and decks, patios or porches with furniture or porch swings and cabin-style luxury furnishings. Many also include large windows overlooking the forest, mountains and meadows, and cathedral ceilings with skylights. Fire Mountain offers spa services, optional daily delivered breakfasts prepared with organic ingredients, outdoor walking trails, an art gallery and a mountaintop bonfire on Saturday evenings.

Whiteside Cove Cabins encompasses five cabins with two queen bedrooms apiece. Each cabin is designed to sleep six guests. The furnishings are casual and comfortable, and the cabins include fully equipped kitchens, gas fireplaces, vaulted ceilings, wood floors and covered front porches with rocking chairs. The property is near a private stream and features a waterfront picnic area for guests. Although Whiteside Cove Cabins is not a resort, it provides guests with serene surroundings, private vacation residences and a rustic setting appropriate for families or couples. Pets are welcome.

The Inn at Half-Mile Farm features furnished cabins for guests seeking something special. Architects have created several units on the property that approximate log cabins from the late 19th century. Exposed wood beams, brick fireplaces, footed bathtubs and old-fashioned oven replicas are utilized in each cabin. Antique furniture and quaint decorative items are combined with modern luxuries such as jetted bathtubs, private decks, thick bathrobes, flat screen TVs with DVD players and plush mattresses. A daily hot breakfast is served to all guests, and nightly wine and appetizer pairings are complimentary. Cabin and Inn guests enjoy use of an outdoor pool, several patios, private acreage and stocked ponds.

Mitchell's Lodge and Cottages has been in business since 1939 to serve visitors to the Highlands area, according to its website. The property includes a large outdoor pavilion with a woodburning fireplace for large group gatherings, a whirlpool spa that overlooks a mountain stream, a lobby with fireplace for board games and informal gatherings and a complimentary continental breakfast each morning for both inn and cabin guests. There are four fully furnished cabins on the property available for rental; each cabin boasts a gas fireplace, Wi-Fi, a full kitchen and a deck overlooking the nearby stream. One of the cabins, the Oak Cottage, features two bedrooms and two bathrooms in addition to a Jacuzzi tub. The other cottages vary in size and number of bedrooms and baths.
