Sugar Mountain is a popular ski destination in North Carolina. The area also offers bike trails, tennis courts, ice skating and several 18-hole golf courses. The Best Western Mountain Lodge in Banner Elk offers a total of 100 guest rooms, and does not contain any suites. It is located minutes from the Sugar Mountain Golf and Ski Resort and is well situated between nine different golf courses. Hotel amenities include free wireless Internet access, year-round outdoor swimming pool and picnic area. It also offers an on-site restaurant and lounge, as well as four meeting rooms. Guests can enjoy daily morning coffee service in the lobby, but the hotel does not offer continental breakfast. According to the official Best Western Mountain Lodge website, the hotel provides the only pet-friendly accommodations in the area, and the entire facility is non-smoking.

In addition to log cabin rentals, Archers Mountain Inn also offers 15 hotel rooms for visitors. Every room is equipped with a fireplace, and some rooms have Jacuzzis, porches, microwaves or refrigerators. Guests at Archers Mountain Inn can partake in a daily complimentary breakfast, and visit the on-site restaurant for dinner. The Inn is convenient to Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, Beech Mountain Resort, Grandfather Mountain, Linville Caverns and numerous golf courses. The hotel does not offer air conditioning.

The Beech Alpen Inn offers a total of 24 hotel rooms and is located just 20 minutes from Sugar Mountain. Each room contains a refrigerator and microwave, and guests can access free wireless Internet. Some of the guest rooms include a fireplace and private patio, while others offer a balcony and view of the nearby Beech Mountain ski slopes. Depending on the room type, some only contain a bathtub, while others contain a shower and a bathtub. The Alpen Inn also offers an on-site restaurant and outdoor pavilion with its own fireplace. Smoking is prohibited at the Alpen Inn.

Rates include a full daily breakfast, and the Mast Farm Inn also has an on-site restaurant called Simplicity.
