Owned and run by chef Tracy Miller, the restaurant offers modern American gourmet creations such as ahi tuna tartare, hazelnut mustard crusted halibut and carmelized Berkshire pork chops, complemented by an extensive wine menu. An added feature of the restaurant, guests may experience a seven-course chef's tasting menu, with wine pairings, if desired. Entrees range from $20 to $34 per plate. Local is open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday; reservations are recommended.

    • A locally owned East Dallas fixture, this pizza joint is located on North Buckner Road about a half mile north of I 30. As the name suggests, the two major menu items are pizza and spaghetti, served in simple combinations. Salads and sandwiches are also offered, and a lunch buffet is available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays. Large pizzas average $17; other entree items are under $10. Pizza Getti is open for lunch and dinner every day.
