San Diego is a great travel destination year around, with its natural scenic beauty, harbor and balmy temperatures. The city's average daily temperature is 70.5 Fahrenheit. If you're taking a trip to San Diego in November, or any other time of the year for that matter, the Gaslamp Quarter is a classic attraction of the city. You could also take a harbor cruise, or check out the Seaport Village, among other San Diego attractions.
The Gaslamp Quarter is a historic area made up of about 16 blocks around San Diego's fourth and fifth avenues. The area is famous for its eponymous gas lamps that light the area, and its history. The Gaslamp Quarter hosts a number of retail outlets, pubs, restaurants, art galleries and theaters. There is also a residential and office presence in the district. Walking around the area is a good way to get acquainted with its offerings. The Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation offers a guided walking tour of the area, with a narrated history.
Seaport Village, established in 1980, is a waterfront dining, shopping and entertainment arena encompassing 90,000 square feet. You could wander on Seaport Village's cobblestone pathways to try out one of its bay-view restaurants, or check out the many retail attractions. You may also be able to catch a live musical performance if one is scheduled during your visit. Past offerings have included blues, jazz, country and swing.
A few cruise operators specialize in harbor cruises with a number of different themes. You could do a harbor tour that takes in Harbor Island, Shelter Island, Point Loma, Cabrillo National Monument, North Island and other harbor attractions. You could do a shorter tour, typically an hour long, or choose to do a longer version if you want to put in around two hours seeing the harbor sights. A dinner cruise, which will serve dinner as you cruise the harbor, is also another variation on the cruise theme. A brunch cruise offers a similar experience closer to breakfast or lunch time.
