The city of Rome, in central New York state, was a transportation and metal manufacturing center at the end of the 19th century. Rome has since been transformed into a rural family community. The city receives more than 100 inches of snowfall each winter, making it a popular location for snow sports.
Rome's Delta Lake State Park is a few minutes from the center of the city. The park's numerous biking and hiking paths are transformed each winter into secluded cross-country ski trails. Skiing Delta Lake Park is a peaceful way to immerse yourself in the wilderness surrounding the city. Many trails abut the lake waters, and the flat terrain, though wooded, is ideal for cross-country skiers of all ages and abilities.
