Clifton Park, New York, is a growing community just north of the capital city, Albany. Clifton Park is full of activities that can be enjoyed by families and people of all ages. A variety of outdoor activities can be found around this area, as well as indoor activities to enjoy on a rainy or cold day.
  1. Clifton Park Ice Arena

    • Residents and visitors to Clifton Park can enjoy ice skating on two NHL-regulation ice rinks at Clifton Park Ice Arena (cliftonparkarena.com). Public skating is available in the fall and winter months. Skating lessons are available year-round, through a program that was started to increase an interest in ice skating and teach helpful skills. Children as young as 3 years old can begin lessons. Hockey and figure skating are also offered year-round. You can also have a birthday party at the Clifton Park Ice Arena. You can reserve the party room, then you just pay for each member of the party to skate and for skate rentals. You bring or order your own food, drinks, cake and decorations.

    Players Park

    • Players Park (players-park.com) is a family fun plex where you can play golf, eat and have a great time. You will find the longest miniature golf course in the area at Players Park, where there are 18 holes to keep the game exciting for everyone. Games can even be played at night. A par-3 golf course is also available for those who would like to play a short game of golf, complete with sand traps and water hazards. Inflatable bounce houses are offered for the little ones, to burn off some of that energy. After all of the fun, stop by the Snack Shack and have something yummy to eat. Some of the foods offered included hot dogs, burgers, french fries and ice cream.

    Parks

    • Clifton Park is home to some beautiful parks, where you can enjoy a day outside. Dwaas Kill Nature Preserve and North Woods Nature Preserve combined have more than 300 acres of nature trails to be explored. Mary Jane Row Dog Park is a park designed for residents, where they can take their dogs along with them to spend some time outside. Permits are required for each dog. William K. Collins, Jr. Park has a playground for the kids, a ball field, picnic areas, a pavilion and a nature trail. Visit Clifton Common where you will find soccer, baseball and softball fields.

    Pools

    • During the summer, you can cool off and enjoy time at one of the three public pools in the Clifton Park area. Each pool offers swimming, diving and a kiddie pool for toddlers who cannot swim yet. The Barney Road pool is Olympic-sized and offers swim teams and children's swimming lessons. Memberships are sold on a first-come first-serve basis and can be purchased for entry into all three pools for the entire swim season. Applications for memberships can be obtained at the city town hall or found and submitted online at the Clifton Park website.
