Woodsmoke Campground in Florida

There are many Woodsmoke campgrounds across the eastern part of the United States, but only one in Florida--South Florida to be exact. Located just off highway 41, nine miles south of Fort Meyers, the Woodsmoke Campgrounds offers many amenities and the chance to get away from it all near the Estero Bay Preserve State Park, the first aquatic preserve in Florida.

  1. Campsites

    • A quick perusal of the Internet shows this camping resort to be well-favored among frequent guests. Created in 1968, the original campgrounds only covered 13 acres and has grown to 300 campsites over a total of 30 acres. With 225 regular camping sites and 75 eighty-feet long concrete pull-through sites complete with 50-amp electrical service and full sewer service hook-ups, reservations are available online for this popular RV camping resort.

    Lakes, Estuaries and Beaches

    • Located close to Fort Meyers Beach and the Estero Bay Preserve State Park, Woodsmoke camping resort has two full lakes that offer fishing. You'll also find a handy boathouse and extra-large clubhouse that offers dinners from time to time.

    Other Amenities

    • On the grounds, a giant heated swimming pool with a Jacuzzi close by offers a break from summer's heat. Kids can play in the playground, play at shuffleboard with the adults, discover nature trails or take the dogs out on the camping resort's "dogwalks." Billiards, shuffleboard tournaments, horseshoes and close-by golfing offer something for every member of the family.

    • A recently added feature for those hard-to-leave-the-Internet-behind folks includes the new Wi-Fi dedicated free area for campers.     Local History

    • Thomas Edison and Henry Ford lived here when winters got too much for them. Both of these well-known and famous people maintained estates in Fort Meyers, the likes of which include a laboratory, gardens and a museum. Private botanical tours can be arranged.

      In Fort Meyers, you'll find the Fort Meyers Historical Museum open every day of the week, with a reduced Sunday schedule. Inside the museum, you'll discover the history of Fort Meyer's early native Americans, the Seminole, Calusa and Paleo Indians, and a comprehensive artifacts collection.
