While the stereotype of an Idaho bar may be that of a shot-and-beer joint in a rustic wilderness setting, this most definitely is not the case when it comes to the city of Boise.   1. Busters Sports Bar

    • Situated two blocks from the Boise State University Stadium, Busters Sports Bar bills itself as the best of its kind in town. Busters is open seven days a week and has a daily happy hour from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Busters hosts various special events such as pajama, Halloween and Hawaii dress-up day. The club has multiple big-screen TVs as well as the various cable TV sports packages. Various food specials are regularly offered such as all-you-can spaghetti and chicken in a basket. Busters also offers a variety of bottled and tap domestic and imported beers. This is a huge hangout for fans of Boise State University sports teams.

    Bittercreek Alehouse

    • In operation since 1995, Bittercreek Alehouse specializes in offering Northwestern beer and cuisine. The bar has 39 draft beers that were brewed in Idaho, Oregon, Washington and California. The selection of beers is constantly updated. The menu includes items such as Idaho hickory smoked trout, catfish, Pacific cod and grass-fed hamburgers. Open daily from 11 a.m. to closing, The Bittercreek Alehouse has a happy hour Mondays through Fridays that has various beer and wine specials from 4 to 6 p.m. Many of these beers are low on carbohydrates and calories. Other available beverages that were produced locally include root beer and apple cider.

    Angell's Bar and Grill

    • Angell's Bar and Grill on Main Street has been a popular downtown destination since 1981. It has dining areas both inside and outside and serves dinner seven days a week. The bar portion of the establishment it open until 11 p.m. six nights a week and until 9 p.m. on Sundays. Reservations are recommended at a restaurant that specializes in fine chops and steaks, large salads, fresh seafood and gourmet desserts. Its fully stocked bar also has an extensive selections of wines and serves exotic drinks. Angell's has a private dining area that can seat up to 14 people and a banquet hall that can accommodate up to 60. The atmosphere is casual, but Angell's is more upscale than a standard bar.
