Located in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the North Myrtle Beach Golf & Tennis Resort is a large real estate property that features houses, condominiums and vacation rentals. Located less than a mile from the beach, this resort property is also close to all of the shopping, restaurants and attractions in North Myrtle Beach. If you are looking to explore the attractions of Myrtle Beach, that town is located about 10 miles south of the resort.
This resort offers a variety of houses, condominiums and vacation rentals for the public. However, it is not a traditional resort hotel, so there are no hotel rooms. Each housing unit offers balconies for the bedrooms, fully equipped kitchens and full bathrooms. Each rental features either one or two bedrooms.
The North Island Golf & Tennis Resort sits between two golf courses: the Possum Trot Golf Course and the Beachwood Golf Course. The Possum Trot Golf Course is a par-72 18-hole course. Ranked as the second most underrated golf course in the Myrtle Beach Area by Golf Digest Magazine, Possum Trot is recognized as having some of the friendliest staff at any golf course. Beachwood Golf Course, on the other hand, is also an 18-hole course with a par of 72. Designed by Gene Hamm, it is noted for the good conditions of its greens.
Besides golfing, the resort also offers six tennis courts which are free to the guests. There are also four small swimming pools, and the neighboring central park offers baseball diamonds and soccer fields. Access to boating, hiking, wind surfing, parasailing and fishing are also available. There are also gazebos, a golf shop and a children's playground. The resort offers free parking for its guests. If the activities of the resort wear you out, you can go to the beach, which is less than a mile from the resort.
The Myrtle Beach Golf & Tennis Resort prides itself on its affordability and availability. In most other places, houses less than a mile from the beach can sell for over $1 million. At the resort, however, you can find a house or condominium for well less than $100,000 dollars. As of May 2010, houses in this resort were selling for as little as $50,000. Vacation rentals are also more affordable than elsewhere.
Originally constructed in 1984, this resort came off an extensive renovation in the late 2000s. While this is not officially a unified hotel, all of the houses, condominiums and vacation rentals here are part of a homeowners association. Even though there is a separate fee to golf at the nearby golf courses, the Possum Trot and Beechwood Golf Courses occasionally offer discounts. There is no official website for the resort, so if you are looking to buy or rent a home or condominium here, call 843-272-5520.
