As a small commercial fishing town linking the Intracoastal Waterway and The New River, Sneads Ferry is part of the Topsail Island community. It was originally called Lower Ferry, as it provided postal delivery access between Virginia and South Carolina in the 1700s. Today, the town celebrates an annual shrimp festival, which is a 2-day fundraiser and consists of several local seafood restaurants.
With an entire menu devoted to seafood, Rick's Restaurant and Sports Bar is open daily for lunch and dinner. Selections on the menu include the snow crab leg dinner with Canadian snow crab, the nut-crusted mahi-mahi with garden herbs or fried oysters with a Bloody Mary dipping sauce. The restaurant also offers appetizers like Shrimp Le Jon, which consists of eight jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon and stuffed with horseradish. Besides seafood, the restaurant also serves of burgers, sandwiches, steak and pasta. Being a sports bar as well, Rick's is home of the Steel Street Mafia Fan Club where Steeler fan club members can watch the game and receive a discounted rate on their meal.
