The Nevada Quilt Guild presented the first Fallon Outdoor Festival of Quilts in 2009 and plans to do so annually to offer guild members the opportunity to develop their craft and to socialize with the quilting community. Held in May, the festival is located in Fallon, Nevada, a one-hour drive east of Reno. This quilt show offers five days of lectures and workshops and seven days of vendors so all attendees have time to shop, learn and participate in contests. The Faculty includes award-winning quilters, needle work authors and quilting teachers. Events include banquets and lectures, trunk shows and 'Afternoon Tea & Sympathy,' but the main event is the judged quilt show. The festival concludes with the outdoor festival where, in addition to a display of classic cars and local vendors, quilters sell their quilts to the public.
