While Reno doesn't garner the big headlines of Las Vegas, the city has a rich tradition of casinos and nightlife. With close to 20 casinos, visitors to "The Biggest Little City in the World" have no trouble finding the best site to place their bets, but there are plenty of other things to do in Reno besides partaking in table games and slot machines.
A popular attraction in Reno, the National Automobile Museum traces the history of the automobile from its earliest days through modern times. The museum features four permanent galleries and a selection of cars previously owned by celebrities such as Elvis Presley and James Dean. Featured and special temporary exhibits in 2010 include the motorization of World War 1 and the New York to Paris Race of 1908. Museum hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The facility is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Admission rates for 2010 are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $4 for children ages 6 to 18.

The Nevada Museum of Art offers art lovers an permanent collection of more than 2,000 pieces created from the 19th century to today. The museum also features a number of temporary exhibitions, which as of 2010 include works from Pablo Picasso, Binh Danh, Roy Lichtenstein and Ben Hoffman. The museum closes on Mondays, Tuesdays and all national holidays. On Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, it opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m., while on Thursdays, the facility stays open until 8 p.m. The museum charges $10 per adult, $8 for seniors and students, and $1 for children as of 2010.

Open between April 1 and October 31, the Sierra Safari Zoo displays a selection of reptiles, mammals and birds, including African lions, Siberian tigers, alligators, snakes, zebras, deer and camels. The zoo features an Animal Ambassador program that brings animals into schools, nursing homes and hospitals. Zoo hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. As of 2010, daily admission is $7 for adults and $6 for children under 12 and senior citizens. Guests also have the option of purchasing a season pass, with prices ranging between $100 for a family of six and $50 for senior couple.
