Margaret Brown, known throughout her life as Maggie, is one of the most famous survivors of the "Titanic" disaster because of her efforts to rescue fellow passengers as the ship was sinking. But she wasn't called Molly until after her death. The home where the Denver socialite lived is now a museum. It has been restored to the era in which she lived there. While the home is comfortable, the rooms are small and not at all like the grandeur pictured in the movie, "The Unsinkable Molly Brown." Margaret and her husband J.J. bought the house in 1894, and it was deeded to her alone when the couple divorced five years later, according to the museum's website. Margaret rented the house out when she traveled, and at one time the governor of Colorado lived there. Tours of the house are given every 30 minutes.

The Denver Museum of Nature and Science is so chock full of fun things to see and do, you may forget you're in an educational setting. The museum's Discovery Zone is dedicated to activities for children, even those only six months old. Older kids can do everything from make crafts to dig for dinosaur bones, per a list on the museum's website. Fascination with dinosaurs continues with the Prehistoric Journey, where exhibits simulate life 3.5 billion years ago. The museum also has exhibits on Egyptian mummies, Native American culture, outer space and wildlife.

The National Western Stock Show, Rodeo and Horse Show is a fixture in Denver, having taken place each January since 1906. That very first show had only 336 entries and ran for six days. Now it runs for 16 days, attracting thousands of entries. While early shows featured just horses, cattle and mules, today you can find all sorts of animals there -- bison, rabbits, chickens and llamas, to name a few. The rodeo with 100 cowboys was added in 1931. Today more than 700 cowboys compete in seven rodeo events.
