In Denver, a city bustling at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, residents learn to thrive in the snow. To entice residents to bundle up and head out, the community offers plenty of events during cold winter months such as February.
The oldest in the Rocky Mountain region, Colorado's Garden & Home Show is held in Denver every February. The show runs for a full nine days, showcasing the latest trends and ideas in home renovation and landscaping. Representatives from over 650 companies attend the show, held indoors at the Colorado Convention Center. The interior is set up to house an acre of gardening and landscaping, lending an atmosphere of spring in the midst of winter.

The upscale SnowBall Gala takes place near the end of February. Tickets aren't cheap, at $100 a head, but all proceeds go to the Shining Stars Foundation, which provides outreach to children with cancer. The event is lively and elegant, a carnival featuring live Brazilian samba, dancing, food and drinks. The venue itself is an attraction for some visitors; the gala is held at the Colorado History Museum, and tickets to the gala include admission. Guests may wander the exhibits as they attend the gala.

Be My Denver Valentine, hosted by The Denver Hunt, offers a unique way to celebrate Valentine's Day: by taking your special someone through a city-wide scavenger hunt. A series of challenging clues lead you through the city, searching for "romantic treasures."
