While Thornton is known best as a suburb of Denver, there are plenty of reasons to visit the town itself. Events throughout the year include a free summer concert series that highlights jazz, pop, rock, R&B and other music, the Young Artists' Festival, Thornton Winterfest, the Easter Egg Scramble and community theater. Like other areas of Colorado, Thornton boasts 300 days of sunshine a year and is within a short commute of the skiing, hiking, boating, fishing and other recreation of the Rocky Mountains.
When searching for a place to stay in town, note that because of Thornton's proximity to Denver, some properties in the city are denoted as "Denver" or "North Denver."
