Delmonico’s got its start in 1837 at 56 Beaver Street, near the financial district of Manhattan. When the restaurant was established, it gained notoriety for its luxurious private dining rooms, the largest private wine cellar in the city, fine cuisine, and attentive service. Restaurant owners claim it to be the birthplace of Delmonico Steak, Delmonico Potatoes, Eggs Benedict, Lobster Newburg, and Baked Alaska. Other firsts in the restaurant industry that Delmonicos has staked a claim to include dining tables for individual parties, printed menus, tablecloths, and the expression “86’d,” which means an item is sold out. The current menu offers a wide selection of fine cuisine, including steak, salad, pasta, seafood, and dessert. Reservations can be made online. Valet parking is available for $20 for up to five hours. Hours are Monday through Friday 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Saturday 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Katz's Delicatessen was established in the Lower East Side of New York City in 1888, making it one of the oldest delis in the United States. It was opened by a Russian immigrant family many years before refrigeration made it easier to preserve food. The current menu is written in Yiddish and English as a tribute to the immigrant heritage that played a critical role in the restaurant's success. Katz's specialties include salami, dry-cure corned beef, pastrami, and frankfurter hot dog. They can be served as hot or cold sandwiches. Much of their meat and baked goods selections can be ordered online and shipped anywhere in the United States or overseas to military address. Hours are 8 a.m. to 10:45 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 10:45 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 2:45 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 10:45 p.m. Sunday.

Keens Steakhouse was opened in 1885 by Albert Keen in the Herald Square Theatre District. It was frequented by actors, playwrights, producers, and writers and is the only remaining establishment in the former Theatre District. Keens began a Pipe Club in the early 20th century. Patrons purchased clay churchwarden pipes that could be kept in storage. There are 90,000 names on the membership list, including Babe Ruth, Teddy Roosevelt, Albert Einstein, J.P. Morgan, and General Douglas MacArthur. The restaurant is most famous for its mutton chop, a dry-aged, USDA prime-grade, and handpicked steak. Keens also serves seafood, salads, appetizers, and desserts. Hours are 11:45 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Special rate parking is available in the evenings.
