Haunted Hotels in San Antonio

San Antonio is the second largest city in the state of Texas, with Houston being the largest. San Antonio is home to many attractions including The River Walk, Sea World, Six Flags Fiesta Texas and the Alamo. San Antonio is also home to many ghost tours and haunted hotels. These hotels each have a story with them that states what makes them haunted.

  1. Menger Hotel

    • The Menger Hotel was built in 1859 and is home to Victorian-style guest rooms, paintings and rare antique furniture. A maid, Sallie White, was murdered by her husband and buried at the Menger Hotel's expense. As stated by the Menger Hotel's website, her ghost has been seen walking the halls of the hotel. Hotel amenities include an outdoor pool, fitness center, a player piano, Colonial Room Restaurant and the Famous Menger Bar. The Menger Bar is where Teddy Roosevelt recruited many of his "Rough Riders" for the Spanish-American war. There are 316 guest rooms, including 22 suites. Each room is smoke-free, has high-speed Internet and voicemail.

    Emily Morgan Hotel

    • The Emily Morgan Hotel is located in an old historic Medical Arts Building that was built in 1924 on top of the Alamo battle site. It is believed that this was also a burial site for nearly 950 bodies and some guests have had ghostly encounters. The hotel has 177 guest rooms, a restaurant, bar, outdoor pool and fitness center. Each guest room has feather-top beds, whirlpool tubs, high-speed Internet, bathrobes, cable TV, and stunning views of the Alamo and the River Walk. The hotel is 100 percent smoke-free and pets are welcome (with a non-refundable fee).

    The St. Anthony Hotel

    • The St. Anthony Hotel was built in 1909 and it overlooks Travis Park, located in downtown San Antonio. Guests state that while staying at this hotel they have seen the ghosts of children on the roof, people in the ballroom, a couple in one of the hotel rooms, and a former employee in a restroom. The same sightings have been seen by a number of guests at the hotel. Hotel amenities include a fitness center, outdoor heated pool that overlooks the city skyline, room service, a spa and valet parking. The guest rooms have high-speed Internet (for a fee), cable TV, work desk and a coffee maker.
