Las Vegas is not only known for its glitz, glamour and endless stretches of casinos and hotels, but also for having the largest number of haunted hotels in the United States. There are a variety of Las Vegas locations, where ghost sightings and encounters are reported yearly. Many are associated with celebrity deaths which have occurred in Vegas. Historical records also tell us there were many unforeseen tragedies that took the lives of people who were staying in Las Vegas hotels, and it has been the scene of a number of suicides, murders and unusual deaths for a number of years. So it's no wonder that the "city that never sleeps," would be so full of unquiet souls.
Originally opened in 1946 by gangster Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel, The Flamingo Hotel has had its share of strange characters filter in and out. This Vegas casino hotel was Siegel's pride and joy, and unfortunately, it cost him a great deal. Approximately a year after The Flamingo opened, crime bosses learned Siegel had embezzled money from them in order to build it. For this, Siegel was murdered in 1947 in his Beverly Hills home, after being shot five times. Even though not much remains of the original hotel's construction, patrons and employees of the hotel say they still see "Mr. Siegel," as he likes to be addressed, wandering around the Presidential Suite, by the pool or garden, and in the on-site chapel.

The Bellagio Las Vegas is situated on the main strip of "Sin City", and was once the location of the Dunes Hotel and Casino. The Dunes was run by the mafia from its inception in 1955 until it closed in 1993. Mob bosses who had ties in Vegas did away with several of their own men while the Dunes was operational, according to the Vegas Strip Deaths website. Witness accounts have stated there are unexplained cold spots in the newly constructed Bellagio, which was built on the site of the former Dunes Hotel. There are also reports of a strange blue glow that will appear and disappear without explanation.

In 1986, Bally's purchased the former MGM Grand Hotel on the Vegas strip. Less than six years earlier, the MGM suffered a horrible fire that killed 85 people, including guests and employees. In 1981, MGM rebuilt the hotel, only to sell it off, and once Bally's took over, further renovations were made on parts of the property. These renovations ended up sparking an abundant amount of spirit activity. Many who have stayed at Bally's Hotel report the spirits of those who died in the fire still wander the halls, and often, screams and cries can be heard.
