Haunted Hotels of Sedona, AZ

Sedona is a small town in Arizona with a population of just over 10,000. The spectacular Red Rocks of Sedona rock formations are world-famous attractions in the area. Its heritage and association with Native Americans and their culture and its natural beauty give the town an eerie yet inviting aura which is heightened by the many ghost sightings reported in the area. There are plenty of outdoor activities to do, such as going hiking into the canyon or mountain biking along one of the several trails. For those with an interest in the paranormal there is always the options of staying at one of the town's haunted hotels.

  1. Jerome Grand Hotel

    • Initially built in 1926 as a hospital, the facility was converted into a hotel in 1997. There are several resident ghosts including a female nurse who roams the corridors, a woman who died in child birth at the hospital and two male ghosts referred to as Scotty and Clyde. There are also numerous reports of coughing, groaning and labored breathing coming from empty rooms, believed to be the ghosts of hospital patients. The rooms and suites available include queen beds, private baths, satellite TV, antique telephones, a 1926 elevator. The The ambiance of the hotel seems to take you back to the Spanish American conquest era and the balcony rooms have spectacular views. For those who haven't had enough ghostly haunting, there are ghost tours on weeknights run by the hotel.

    Hotel Monte Vista

    • Situated at the intersection of San Francisco and Aspen streets in Flagstaff, AZ, Hotel Monte Vista has 50 rooms and suites decorated in western style. The hotel is 22 miles from Sedona, but has businesses, shops and restaurants all within walking distance. On site amenities include cable TV, showers, bathtubs, telephone, laundry, a cocktail lounge and the Rendezvous coffee house. The spirit of the wild west still roams the halls of the Monte Vista in the form of a bank robber's ghost, said to have been wounded after a bank robbery and then bled to death there. Other reported ghosts include a bellboy who once worked at the hotel as well as a woman in a rocking chair in room 305, which has been investigated by the popular television series "Unsolved Mysteries."

    • Connor Hotel is situated in Jerome--a famous ghost town a short drive from Sedona. The 12 historic rooms at the Connor Hotel have been renovated to modern standards, yet still retain their authentic old south-western charm.
