Alligator Point is located on the western shore of Dickerson Bay, just off the Gulf of Mexico in Florida. This tranquil seaside town is in Franklin County, one hour away from Tallahassee. Alligator Point is known for its pristine natural surroundings and lack of commercial development. With white sand beaches and a rich maritime history, Alligator Point has a variety of attractions for visitors to enjoy.
Head to the beaches at Alligator Park for fun in the sun. Franklin County has several beach parks. Carrabelle Beach Park is a white sand beach in Alligator Point. Swim, get a tan and bring a meal along to eat at the picnic pavilions. There are handicap accessible restrooms and beachside showers. Pets are welcome on the beach, so take the whole family. You can also swim at St. George Island Beach Park, another saltwater beach with similar facilities. St. George Island Beach Park has a basketball court and playground for smaller children.
Visit the St. George Island Visitor Center & Lighthouse Museum. The Cape St. George Lighthouse was built in 1852. It collapsed in 2005, but is now under reconstruction, using many of the original salvaged materials. The museum and visitor center are open daily, featuring exhibits and information about St. George Island and the local lighthouse that has served as a beacon for ships over the past 150 years.

Check out the Apalachicola Maritime Museum, established as a monument to the maritime history of the region. Guests learn about sailing and boat building with educational displays and interactive workshops. The main attraction is a 58-foot wooden ketch Quark. This sailboat was designed by L. Francis Herreshoff and is called the Heritage of Apalachicola.

Go boating at several spots around Alligator Point. There are a few public boat ramps available. Set out in a canoe or kayak at Leonard's Landing. Launch larger boats at the Ochlocknee Bridge boat ramp on Highway 98 or the Sun-n-Sand Road Landing. You can also take a boat trip from the Alligator Point Yacht Basin boat ramp. Head to Bald Point State Park for kayaking and canoe trips around the coastal marshes of the region. Boat rentals are available at all of these locations.
