Clearwater Beach, Florida, is located in the St. Petersburg area on a peninsula that sits on Florida's west coast. It's surrounded by the Tampa Bay to the East and the Gulf of Mexico to the West. In the 35 miles of white sand beaches there are various small communities and plenty of things to do that keep people returning year after year.
John's Pass Village and Boardwalk is a quaint fishing village that offers shopping, dining and entertainment for the whole family. It's located on the waterfront between Madeira Beach and Treasure Island. In addition to shopping, visitors can watch for dolphins, charter fishing boats, rent wave runners, para-sai, and even take a cruise on a replica pirate ship.
Guests can board the Shell Key Shuttle to visit Shell Key Preserve (Shell Island) and spend some time sunbathing, fishing, shelling and swimming. Various water activities are available as well. Visitors can also bring home some of the numerous sand dollars located at Shell Island. The ferry runs at various times throughout the day, so guests can opt for all day visits or simply enjoy a few hours at the preserve.
The Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a marine life rescue and environmental education center. The marine aquarium rescues and rehabilitates sick or injured animals and then releases then back into their natural habitat. Some of the aquatic animals become permanent residences of the Clearwater Marine Aquarium because they cannot be returned to nature. The Clearwater Marine Aquarium has many attractions for guests to visit including: dolphin shows, a turtle bayou, fish, sharks, stingray beach and otter land.
The pier is located in downtown St. Petersburg on Second Avenue North. While The Pier has been through many changes throughout it's history, the current design has been standing since the 1970's. If the architectural style of the inverted pyramid isn't enough to draw visitors there, The Pier offers five levels of shopping,dining, and entertainment. The Pier aquarium that is located on on of the floors gives guests the opportunity not only to see various aquatic animals, but touch and feed some as well. Located on the upper deck is a restaurant that offers a great view of St. Petersburg. In addition to the activities located on the five levels there are various things to do outdoor. Guests can take a ride on the Dolphin Queen and view dolphins and manatees in their natural habitat, rent a boat to tour Tampa Bay, or rent bikes for a unique way to see downtown St. Pete.
