Free Things to Do in the Orlando Area

Orlando may be best known for its theme parks like Walt Disney World and Universal Studios, but it is a Florida city that has a lot more to offer than roller coasters and expensive theme park food. There are plenty of things that people can do in Orlando that won't cost them a dime.

  1. Old Town

    • Old Town is located on Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway and is a unique shopping area and amusement park. While rides cost money, admission is free and there are plenty of free activities for guests to enjoy. Open 365 days a year, Old Town offers free concerts on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights. On Thursday nights, motorcycles cruise through the streets for Old Town's Bike Night. Guests can also enjoy the vintage car parades that take place on Saturday nights.

    Flea World & Fun World

    • Located on Highway 1792 between Orlando and Sanford, Flea World & Fun World charge no admission fees. Flea World is the largest flea market in the United States, according to its website. Open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, the market hosts more than 1,700 vendors who gather to sell their items at low prices. Part of the overall complex, Fun World is only open on Saturdays and Sundays. It has venues with attractions that include exotic animals, acrobatic shows and circus and magic acts.

    Disney's Boardwalk

    • Taking a walk along Disney's Boardwalk, a re-creation of a 1930s-style Atlantic coastal village, is a great free form of entertainment. While it's known for its nightclubs, there is no cost to stroll along the boardwalk. Visitors can enjoy some of the various magicians and street performers for free.

    A World of Orchids

    • The 22,500-square-foot conservatory at A World of Orchids has various species of exotic flowers, including orchids. Visitors can walk along the paths and admire various exhibits that offer flowers from places such as South America, Central America, Southeast Asia and Indonesia.
