What is head of state?
Head of state is a person who is officially recognized as the head of a country or government, whether as a ceremonial or real leader. The head of state is the highest-ranking official in the government and is often responsible for representing the country in foreign affairs and diplomatic relations. The head of state may also have ceremonial duties such as granting pardons and awards, and acting as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. Depending on the country and government structure, the head of state may be elected, hereditary, or appointed by a governing body.
