Los Angeles International Airport or LAX is the sixth busiest airport in the world. According to the Arizona Republic, LAX ranks fifth on the list of the nation's busiest airports. Despite hosting 60 million travelers, LAX even has space for pets. Animals can use the Pet Park for potty and play time. Of course, they must be leashed and bags are provided for owners to clean up their pet's waste.
About 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles is the LA/Ontario Airport. People usually just refer to it as Ontario Airport. The drive between Ontario and Los Angeles is about one hour if traffic is light. Ontario is located in the area known as the Inland Empire, which includes such cities as Riverside and San Bernadino. The airport is about a one-hour drive away from Palm Springs.
John Wayne Airport (SNA) is the only commercial airport in Orange County. OCair.com says the cozy air hub, features "10 commercial, two commuter and two all-cargo airlines." Nine million travelers take to the skies through John Wayne Airport. It's the closest airport to Disneyland and doesn't have the congestion like LAX.
Halfway between Los Angeles and Orange County is the city of Long Beach. The city's small airport takes up just over 1,100 acres of space. Planes travel to 19 destinations throughout the country. Long Beach Airport services approximately six commercial airlines.
Named after the late comedian, the Bob Hope Airport is located in Burbank, Calif. It's convenient to the San Fernando Valley, Hollywood or Universal Studios. There are 80 non-stop commercial flights with destinations to the West Coast, Mid-West and New York. The Bob Hope Airport website reports it is the only airport in Los Angeles area with a train station. Travelers have direct access to Amtrak and Metrolink rail lines.
The San Diego International Airport is conveniently located in the city's downtown. If you're staying in the touristy Gas Lamp district or catching a San Diego Padre's game, you're just a few minutes drive from the airport. According to its website, San Diego International is the 30th busiest airport in the country and serves an average of 50,000 passengers daily.
