What energy transforms does a ferris wheel use?

1. Mechanical Energy

* Gravitational Potential Energy (GPE):

- GPE increases as passengers are raised (moved further from the earth).

- GPE transforms back into KE as the wheel turns downward, accelerating the cars to their highest velocities at the bottom of the circle.

* Kinetic Energy (KE):

- After being released at the maximum height, cars accelerate by transforming GPE into KE

- Passengers reach maximum speed at the base of the circle with zero GPE

2. Electrical Energy

- Motor or engine powers the wheel to raise cars to the maximum GPE point(s)
