Cessna Citation Jet Specs

Cessna Aircraft Co. produced the first of the Citation series of jet aircraft in 1966, the Citation Mustang. Since then Cessna has continued to upgrade the popular line of personal jet aircraft with models leading up to the current Cessna Citation X. The Mustang carried a crew of two and four passengers. The Citation X handles nine passengers with a two-person flight crew.
  1. Citation Milestones

    • The combined Citation X fleet logged a million hours of flight time between 1996 and 2007, and Citation X models have taken off and landed more than a million times at airports around the world. The Citation X is one of the most heavily traveled business aircraft in the world. Cessna claims the Citation X is fastest business jet in the air, capable of flying at mach 0.92.

    Performance

    • The Citation X requires a flight crew of two. It is not certified for single-pilot operations. Maximum cruising speed is rated at 525 knots (600 mph). The aircraft has a range of 3,070 nautical miles (3,530 statute miles) and a certified operational ceiling of 51,000 feet of altitude.

    Airport Performance

    • Takeoff distance for the Citation X is 5,140 feet, just short of one mile. Landings can be accomplished in 3,400 feet using thrust reversing. The aircraft climbs at 3,650 feet per minute at sea level.

    Aircraft Dimensions

    • The Citation X is 72 feet, 4 inches long and has a wingspan of 63 feet, 11 inches. The passenger cabin seats nine in a space 68 inches high, 66 inches wide and 23 feet long. Cabin interiors are custom-designed to meet the specifications of the owner or operator of the aircraft.

    Critical Weights

    • Ramp and takeoff weights are rated at 36,400 lbs. Zero-fuel weight is 24,400 lbs., with a full load of usable fuel adding 12,900 lbs. to the aircraft. With typical equipment the empty weight of the Citation X is 22,000 lbs.

    Engines and Power

    • A pair of Rolls-Royce AE3007C1 engines power the Citation X, developing a maximum power output of 6,764 lbs. of thrust. Maximum allowable hours of operation between overhauls is 4,500 hours.

    Summary

    • Cessna announced the Citation X in 1990 and delivered the first production model to golfer Arnold Palmer in 1996. By August 1999, 100 units had rolled off the Cessna assembly lines. More than 200 planes had been delivered by the end of 2002.
