What Is the Luggage Allowance on Korean Air?

Korean Air offers a free luggage allowance for all passengers traveling to and from the Americas, as of 2010. Restrictions do apply to the amount of luggage, size (based on total height, width and depth), and weight. Rules differ with the class of service ticketed, and whether the passenger is a member of the Skypass program.
  1. Carry-On Economy

    • One carry-on bag and an additional item for personal use, such as a briefcase, laptop or pocketbook, is welcome in the Korean Air's cabin. The carry-on cannot exceed 25 pounds and/or 45 linear inches.

    Carry-On First and Business Class

    • Korean Air permits passengers in First and Business Class two carry-on bags and a personal item. The same weight and size restrictions as Economy Class apply.

    Checked Luggage Economy

    • Economy passengers traveling on Korean Air flights to and from the Americas are permitted two pieces of luggage free at check-in. The weight cannot exceed 50 pounds per piece, nor can the dimensions be greater than 62 linear inches.

Checked Luggage First and Business Class

    • First and Business Class passengers are allowed to check in two pieces of luggage. The maximum weight is 70 pounds with dimensions the same as passengers flying Economy Class--62 linear inches or less.

    Excess Weight and Size

    • Luggage that exceeds the weight limits or maximum sizes as per Korean Air's specifications are subject to rejection.

    Skypass Members

    • Skypass members are allowed three pieces of checked luggage when traveling to and from the Americas.
