The Air Asia network consists of Air Asia, Thai Air Asia and Air Asia X. The three operate international flights between Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Taiwan, India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Iran, Philippines, South Korea, Australia and the United Kingdom. The cities of Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Kota Kinabalu, Bangkok, Phuket and Bali serve as hubs for international flights to multiple countries. In December 2010 Air Asia plans to introduce flights to Tokyo, Japan.
Air Asia is a low-cost, no-frills airline. Any extra services that passengers require, including extra baggage allowance, in-flight meals, blanket/pillows and seat selection must be paid for as extras. On the long-haul routes operated by Air Asia X, an extra flight class exists. The class is named "Air Asia X Premium" and allows passengers paying a higher rate (although still much lower than a business class seat on a regular airline) to have a seat which turns into a flat bed, a higher baggage allowance, in-seat PowerPoint and priority boarding. Passengers with special requirements should notify the airline when they book.
The cheapest way to book an Air Asia international flight is through the Air Asia website (see "Resources"). You will receive an e-ticket and there is also a section of the website where you can find saver deals on the various international routes. You can also purchase tickets from airport sales stations in Southeast Asian countries, and Air Asia also operate ticket offices in a number of cities in the region (see "Resources"). Air Asia tickets are also available through regular travel agents, but the fares are not always low, due to agent commission rates.
