If a friend or family member is traveling by plane, the hours that pass can seem all the longer for those anxiously awaiting their safe arrival. You may not be able to speak with the passenger while he is in transit, but you can find out where the plane is at all times.
Select a flight tracker. These include flightaware.com and flightstats.com. When choosing a flight tracker, be aware that some are limited in their coverage area. This will be indicated somewhere on the website. If the passenger is traveling abroad, make sure the flight tracker covers international flights.
Search by airline and flight number. You need to obtain this from the passenger before departure. Select or type in the airline, the flight number and the departure date. The website will display a map with the flight's location on the next page. If you don't have this info, skip to Step 3.
Search by the airport of origin and/or destination. Enter the code or the name of each airport and the departure date. Press the search button. This will give you a list of departures and arrivals. Select the appropriate one, and the map will be displayed on the next page.
