Know the flight number of the flight you are checking. If you don't know the flight number, some websites will allow you to search by departure/destination city, the airline, and scheduled takeoff/arrival time.
The flight number is a code, usually two letters (describing the airline) and then a series of numbers. Having it will make looking up your flight status much easier.
Go to a website like Flightstats or Flightview and type in your information. It is a simple process and takes only a little time. Submit the information.
Look at the status of your flight -- you can tell if it is arriving late or on time, when it's supposed to take off, the flight number, and current status of the airplane (landed, flying, etc.)
