American Airlines is an international airline that flies large Boeing airplanes around the world. The airline flies to Honolulu International Airport, Lihue Airport on the Island of Kauai, Kahului Airport on Maui and Kona International Airport on the main island. Hawaiian Airlines is a major airline that serves the islands of Hawaii, Maui, Oahu and Kauai. In total, it has 20 destinations along the Pacific coast including some mainland airports such as Los Angeles and other Pacific islands such as Tahiti. The airline's history dates back to 1929 and currently handles about 6 million passengers a year and an estimated 145 million people have traveled on the airline since it was founded. Since 2000, Hawaiian Airlines has updated its planes to include some of the newest Boeing aircraft. Hawaiian Airlines also has its own reward program. Hawaiian miles are earned either through buying flight tickets or using its reward Visa. Miles can also be purchased if you are short the required amount for your next redemption.
