Chattanooga's official airport is the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport at Lovell Field, which is approximately five miles east of the heart of the city. This airport has two main runways and provides a number of domestic destinations for travelers in Tennessee. As well as providing commercial air travel, Chattanooga Metro Airport also offers cargo transportation via Fedex. The airport has a safe flight record, with only one crash; no one was killed.

If you are flying into Chattanooga using a private aircraft, you should contact Lookout Mountain Airport prior to your arrival to secure a safe time for landing and storing your aircraft. There is one 2000-foot runway at Lookout Mountain which can only be used by single-engine aircraft. To reach Lookout Mountain Airport from downtown Chattanooga, simply take Highway 72 to the junction of Cummings Highway and Lookout Mountain Scenic Highway.

The Marion County Airport in Jasper, Tennessee, is less than an hour drive to the west of Chattanooga via 24 West freeway. The airport is often used as an alternative to Chattanooga Metro Airport, especially for those flying in ultralight and other non-commercial aircraft.
