North Tennessee Airports

Tennessee has two international airports and many smaller airports serving towns and cities. The airports in north Tennessee are mostly smaller with a few runways but are generally open to the public and are municipally owned.
  1. International Airport

    • Nashville International Airport is one of two international airports in Tennessee (the other is Memphis International Airport) and is the most northerly of the two. The airport is served by airlines such as American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Southwest Airlines and AirCanada. Transport links, such as buses and taxis, run from Nashville International. Cities accessible from the Nashville International Airport include Nashville itself, Brentwood, Springfield and Lebanon.

    New Tazewell Airport

    • New Tazewell Airport is located three miles southeast of Tazewell, Tenn., and is open to the public. The airport has an elevation of 1,179 feet and the Federal Aviation Administration code 3A2. The airport has an average of 104 landings and takeoffs a week, as of the end of June 2009, and has 11 aircraft based on the field. The two asphalt runways are 3,000 feet long and 75 feet wide. About 80 percent of the activity in the airport is local general traffic. Hangars and tie-downs are available.

    Lafayette Municipal Airport

    • Another airport open to the public, Lafayette Municipal Airport is located two miles west of Lafayette, Tenn. The airport's elevation is 969 feet and has the FAA code 3M7. Five aircraft are based on the field and tie-downs are available. The two asphalt runways are 5,200 feet long and 75 feet wide. Less than half of the airport's traffic is local general traffic and as of mid-December 2009, an average of 33 landings and takeoffs were handled per day.

    Outlaw Field Airport

    • The dashingly named Outlaw Field Airport is located six miles from the town of Clarkesville, Tenn., just below the Tennessee state line. The airport is open to the public and has an elevation of 550 feet. The four asphalt runways are 100 feet wide, with two being 4,004 feet long and two 6,000 feet long. Tie-downs are available. The airfield handles an average of 56 operations a day, as of mid-December 2009, and has 40 aircraft based on the field. About 70 percent of the traffic is local general traffic. The FAA code for the airfield is CKV.

    Scott Municipal Airport

    • Located four miles southwest of Oneida, Tenn., Scott Municipal Airport has an elevation of 1,545 feet and is known by the FAA code SCX. The airport is open to the public and as of October 2008 handles an average of 30 operations a day. About half of the traffic is local general traffic and hangars and tie-downs are available. 20 aircraft are based on the field. The two asphalt runways are 5,506 feet long and 75 feet wide.
