The Backcountry Safaris Denali Bus leaves Fairbanks at 8:15 a.m. and arrives at Denali National Park at 12:15 p.m. Like those on bus trips from Anchorage, travelers on the Denali Bus typically stay overnight near the park.
The northbound Denali bus departs Denali National Park at 1:30 p.m. and arrives in Fairbanks at 4:30 p.m. Backcountry Safaris has offered tours and travel assistance in Alaska for 22 years. Travelers on bus trips to Denali National Park can reach the park entrance by bus, but private vehicles may only travel 15 miles into the park during summer. Those who want to travel deep into the park may board one of the park bus tours.
The Denali Natural History Tour, the shortest bus tour, takes approximately 4-1/2 hours and travels 17 miles into the park. The Tundra Wilderness Tour travels 53 miles into the park and takes eight hours to complete. The longest tour, the Kantishna Experience Tour, takes 11 hours and travels 92 miles into the park. All three bus trips include naturalist drivers who provide commentary throughout the tour.
