Both Dollar and Thrifty rental services offer in-terminal pick-up for full size vans comparable to the Ford E-350. The rental counters are located by the baggage claim wing. After picking up your key, you can cross the street directly into the rental lots. Vans should be returned to this same location. All units are air conditioned, and both rental companies offer unlimited mileage for a little over $175 a day as of January 2011. Some taxes and fees will apply. Dollar and Thrifty also offer trip protection insurance.
In addition to its airport location, Enterprise has four other locations in Sarasota, Florida, that carry conversion vans. In addition to the Tamiami Trail office, rentals available on North Washington Boulevard, Fruitville Road and Clark Road. Most Enterprise locations also offer pick-up service -- an associate will drive the van to you.
Budget offers daily, monthly and one-way rentals of passenger vans, which they classify as high-occupancy cars. Their vans are smoke-free -- any cigarettes or cigars should be smoked outside the vehicle. Budget 12-passenger vans have map lights, anti-lock brakes and a V8 engine, in most cases. In business since 1958, the Sarasota location accepts American Express, Diners Club, Discover Card, MasterCard and Visa. As of early 2011, the office is open until 6 p.m. on weeknights and until 1 a.m. on weekends. They offer a free pick-up service.
