Irish Festival Cruises

Irish Festival Cruises and Tours is an annual cruise that sets sail with a boatload of Celtic entertainment that includes music, singing, dancing lessons and storytelling. Past performers have included some of the biggest names in Irish music and literature, such as Cherish the Ladies and Frank McCourt. The 2011 Irish Festival Cruise was scheduled to launch from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Jan. 30 and sail through Feb. 6. Cruise itineraries are subject to change from year to year. According to the U.S. State Department, United States citizens are required to have valid passports for Caribbean region cruises. Citizens of other countries are advised to check the travel specifications of their nation.

    • This is an all-inclusive cruise with an Irish theme. Accommodations, meals, non-alcoholic beverages and on-board entertainment are included in the price. Expect additional costs for alcoholic beverages, onshore entertainment and activities, and on-board beauty parlor services. There are two gala evenings with formal dining and attire. Alternative dining will be available for those who don't wish to participate.

    Activities

    • Dance lessons, singalongs and opportunities to learn conversational Gaelic, Celtic mythology and traditional Irish musical instruments such as the tin whistle and the bodhran are available. If you like to gamble, an on-board casino and bingo games are offered. Other on-board activities include swimming, scuba diving lessons, snorkeling and shuffleboard. You'll also have the opportunity to enjoy off board activities at the ports of call.

    Entertainment

    • The cruise provides more than 40 hours of Irish entertainment. Music, dancing, storytelling and humor are on the agenda. Evening concerts will provide a showcase of musical talent. Past performers have included the Clancy Brothers, the Irish Rovers, Mary Black, Tommy Sands and Maura O'Connell.

    Ports of Call

    • The Irish Festival cruises have launched from the United States bound for ports of call in the Caribbean, Mexico and other destinations. Ports visited have included Aruba, Nassau and Cozumel. While in port, you can go ashore to enjoy shopping, sightseeing, dining and guided tours. Keep in mind you will be required to return to the ship by a specific time.
