Carnival's four-night Western Caribbean cruise spends two full days at sea and stops in Cozumel, Mexico, for one day before returning to Mobile. The Carnival Elation cruise ship features three swimming pools with water slides and whirlpools, a miniature golf course, several restaurants, a casino, an adult-only area, and various activities for children and teens. Optional shore activities include a Cozumel motorcycle tour, snorkeling, a jungle zip line tour, swimming with dolphins and sailing on a catamaran. As of August 2010, prices for an interior cabin started at $219 per person.
The five-night cruise also sails on the Carnival Elation and includes stops in Cozumel and either Calica or Progreso, Mexico. Calica---a small port town---provides access to Xcaret Park and Playa del Carmen. Xcaret Park is an ecological park that offers stunning underwater attractions, such as caves and rivers, that you may explore through swimming or snorkeling, as well as archaeological ruins. Playa del Carmen features white sandy beaches, an array of shopping choices and diverse restaurants. Progreso offers easy access to several Mayan ruins and provides lovely beaches with swimming, snorkeling and deep-sea fishing. As of August 2010, the cost for an inside cabin started at $249 per person.
With stops in Montego Bay, Grand Cayman and Cozumel, the seven-night Carnival cruise offers a more extensive tour of the Western Caribbean. In Montego Bay, you might tour old plantation homes, enjoy upscale shopping, relax at one of the many beautiful beaches, raft down the Great River, visit a bird sanctuary or explore Dunns River Falls. Grand Cayman provides many beach options from tourist beaches to private secluded beaches. Other optional shore excursions on Grand Cayman include swimming with stingrays, snorkeling, golfing, kayaking and parasailing. As of August 2010, prices start at $499 for an interior cabin.
