Ocean Cruises Out of New Orleans

Three major cruise lines depart from the Mississippi River in New Orleans: Carnival Cruises, the Norwegian Cruise Line and the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. These ships offer visitors a chance to take to the open sea and visit destination spots like Mexico, Florida and the Caribbean. Visitors can also choose to extend their vacation and visit New Orleans before or after their cruise.
  1. Carnival Cruises

    • Carnival Cruise Line has ocean cruises that depart from New Orleans and make stops in Mexico, the Bahamas, Florida, the Grand Caymans and Jamaica. The cruises last three to five days; longer cruises will have at least one day at sea. On board, the Carnival offers three meals a day plus optional specialty dining. During the day travelers can visit the bar, view the art gallery, shop at the duty free shops, enjoy the spa or spend time at the on-board water park. At night, cruisers can watch live entertainment, play at the casino or dance in the nightclub. The ship also offers activities designed for teens and young children.

    Norwegian Cruise Line

    • Norwegian Cruise Line departs from New Orleans and visits several ports of call in Mexico including Cozumel and Costa Maya; Belize City and Roatan. Cruises last seven days and six nights. While on board, visitors can experience cuisine from all over the world at one of the many restaurants. For entertainment, the ship has a library, casino, Internet cafe, walking track, shops, a basketball court and hot tubs. Norwegian accommodates teenagers and children via a teen disco and video arcade.

    Royal Caribbean Cruise Line

    • Royal Caribbean offers seven day cruises to the Caribbean and Mexico departing from New Orleans. Ports of call for these cruises include the Grand Caymans, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico and Cozumel. All cruises from New Orleans depart on the Voyager of the Seas ship. The ship has an ice-skating rink, a miniature golf course, day spa and a rock climbing wall. The ship also has a full-service main dining hall and a 50's style specialty restaurant.
