These tours are offered year-round, and passengers ride the M.V. GlenRoyal, which can carry 60 passengers. Passengers can either book a two or three hour tour of the river, and the cruise always leaves around high tide. This is a guided tour by a local historian, and passengers will learn about life on the river, including that of the Maori tribes, bootleggers who operated in the area and the ferrymen that ply these waters. During the whitebait season, visitors will be able to speak with local fishermen and even try some whitebait fritters. The boat features a heated cabin that can fit up to 30 people and two viewing decks.
