- The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) is a Pakistan federal organization formed on 4th April 1992 under Act of Parliament.
- IRSA manages, operates and maintain storage dams and barrages and regulates water sharing among the provinces as per 1991 Water Accord.
- It consists of seven members two each from Punjab and Sindh and one each from NWFP/KP and Baluchistan and a chairman appointed by the federal government for three years term.
- It is headquarter based in Islamabad which includes a secretariat comprising four directorates (water, land acquisition, planning and administration).
- It oversees Tarbela and Mangla reservoirs and seven inter linked canal commands i.e. Balloki Suleimanki, Sutlej Valley canals, Upper Chenab, Lower Chenab, Taunsa/Panjnad, Lower Bari Doab canals and Warsak and Ghazi Barotha Canal Commands.
