Brittany Ferries offers three French destinations from Portsmouth: Caen, St. Malo, and Cherbourg. With one of the most modern fleets on the English Channel, it provides car transportation, on-site restaurants, bars, lounges, shopping , entertainment and accommodations for overnight trips. As of August 2010, the number of daily trips are up to four for Caen, one for St. Malo and three to Cherbourg. Round-trip prices for one car and two passengers range from $120 for Caen to $171 for Cherbourg (see Reference 2).

Condor Ferries offers one weekly trip (on Sundays) from Portsmouth to Cherbourg on the Commodore Clipper Conventional Ferry. It provides space for up to 300 passengers and more than 100 cars for the five-hour journey. Amenities include: cabins with private bath, restaurant, lounge, reclining seats and a duty-free shop. As of August 2010, one-way trips start at $155 and include one passenger car (see Reference 3).

Line Lines offers two daily trips to Le Havre, France on two different ships: The Cote d'Albatre (a 2006 ship equipped with ultra-modern stabilizers for sailing comfort, restaurant, lounge, boutique, Internet, 50 luxury cabins) and the Norman Arrow (a high-speed catamaran with 1200 seats, restaurants, bar and capacity for 417 cars).
