What is the setting of bridge to Teribithia?

Bridge to Terabithia is set in rural Virginia, USA, in the fictional town of Lark Creek. The main characters, Jess Aarons and Leslie Burke, live on opposite sides of a creek that runs through the woods near their homes. They build a secret hideout in the woods, which they call Terabithia, and use it as a place to escape from the real world and their everyday problems.
