Brentwood & Franklin, Tennessee, Tourism

For a piece of the old South, take a trip to Brentwood or Franklin in Tennessee. Tourism isn't big in either city, but there are a few historical places to see and BBQ restaurants to try. For major attractions, visit Nashville or Memphis.
  1. Attractions in Brentwood

    • The Nashville Golf & Athletic Club's 18-hole course features plenty of obstacles: Be prepared for sand bunkers, grass bunkers, trees and water hazards. The Cool Spring Galleria offers more than 200 stores and many restaurants. In addition, Mere Bulles is a restaurant located inside a former home from the Antebellum period -- a glamorous time in the South. The restaurant serves traditional Southern dishes. At night, hit Stogie's for a beer or your favorite cocktail.

    Attractions in Franklin

    • The Carter House was the Union army command post during the Battle of Franklin, which is known as one of the worst disasters for the Confederate Army during the Civil War. You can take a tour of the house, which was built back in 1830. A visit to the Carnton Plantation will provide you with an opportunity to see Civil War battle reenactments or become familiar with the plantation's oldest residents on the ghost tour. If you stop by the Jaymar Family Entertainment Center, you can bowl, shoot pool or play in the arcade.

    BBQ

    • You cannot visit Tennessee without sampling the state's signature BBQ. Famous Dave's BBQ is a chain restaurant that has won many 1st-place ribbons. The restaurant won 1st place at Marc's Great American Rib Cook-off as well as at the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off. At the local Franklin location, you can enjoy ribs, chicken or pulled pork.
