Go to the Brentwood post office, which is located at 8011 Brooks Chapel Road. They are open from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Monday through Friday. On Saturdays, they are open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Find a change of address card in the lobby or get one from one of the clerks working the counter. It's a small form and you should be able to find it away from the main counter with the assorted stationery.
Before you go to the post office, write down your new address on a slip of paper and take it with you. You don't want to risk forgetting the address or accidentally writing down the wrong one. Fill out the change of address card. It will only take a few minutes of your time. All the card requires is your name, current address and previous address. It will also ask you when you will be moving into your new address.
Turn in the change of address card to one of the clerks. Give the clerk time to look it over just to make sure he can read your handwriting and that there are no mistakes on your form.
Go to the United States Postal Service's website at usps.com.
Click on the heading at the top of the homepage that reads "Household." This link will lead you to a directory of choices that can help with numerous personal postal needs.
Move your mouse over the toolbar that states "Use these quick and easy online tools." Another box of options will drop down underneath the bar.
Click on "Change your address when you move." After reading the Postal Service's privacy policy, this link will lead you to the online change of address form.
Enter your new address and old address, email address, and date the address change. The site will also ask you if your move is temporary or permanent.
Submit your address change request and give it a few days to take effect. The Postal Service will email you when the change is official.
