Visit your local post office. You cannot sign up for the Premium Forwarding Service (PFS) for your temporary mail online like you can when you change your address permanently. You cannot ship mail temporarily to military installations and other destinations requiring a Customs Declaration such as ZIP code 969, according to the U.S. Postal Service website. Business addresses and centralized delivery points cannot usually be enrolled for this service. PFS is not guaranteed; you cannot get refunds for late mail.
Fill out the paperwork to enroll in the Premium Forwarding Service at the post office. You will be required to submit your name and address information. The post office will not give your temporary address to mailers.
Pay the $15 enrollment fee. Each weekly shipment fee is $13.95. You must pay for the whole time you will be away when you sign up using a check, cash, credit or debit card.
Bring two types of identification with you when you enroll. One of them must have a photo. Also bring evidence that you live at your primary address.
