Log in to the CRA's website (see Resources) and click on the "My Account" link under the "By Internet" title. Log in to your account. To use this method, you must have already registered for the My Account service.
Click on "Change My Address."
Follow the on-screen prompts to notify the CRA of your new address.
Confirm the date of your move. Send your change of address notification as soon as you know when you will be moving.
Write a letter to the CRA informing them of your move. In this note, include your name, social insurance number, the date of your move, your new address and your signature.
Fax or mail your notification letter to your regional tax center. You can find a list of regional tax centers in the Resources section.
Go to the Canada Post website (see Resources) and click on the "Change My Address" tab.
Follow the prompts to change your address. You will be asked to fill in information about your new address as well as some identity verification questions.
Pay your fee. Fees range from $40 for a six-month mail redirection for those moving within the same province to $205 for a 12-month redirection for those moving outside the country. Submit your address change.
Notify individual government departments as you get correspondence from them. When you change your address with Canada Post, your mail is redirected to your new home for a period of six or 12 months. If you receive any re-directed mail from a government agency, contact the agency directly to change your address.
Go to any Canada Post office. Complete a change of address form at the post office, including information about your new address and date of your move.
Submit your form and present government-issued identification to the post office agent to confirm your identity.
