Drive to the Canadian border port of entry. Get in the lane designated for campers and recreational vehicles. Some campers will not fit through the lanes designated for cars. If necessary, ask the customs officer for instructions.
Present your documentation to the customs officer. Citizens of the United States can enter Canada without a passport. U.S. citizens can present a birth certificate, certificate of citizenship, or enhanced driver's license as proof of citizenship. Citizens of other countries need a passport to enter Canada. You may also need a valid visa, depending on the purpose of your visit to Canada.
Show the customs officer your vehicle registration and proof of insurance. Bring the registration for the camper, if it is registered separately.
Answer the customs officer's questions. Tell the truth. Do not attempt to bring forbidden items into Canada. Your camper is subject to inspection. Proceed into Canada with your camper when instructed by the customs officer.
U.S. citizens returning home from Canada must have a passport or other approved identification, such as an enhanced driver's license that identifies citizenship. All foreign nationals, including Canadians, must have a passport to enter the United States. A visa may also be required, depending on the circumstances.
