How to Fly on Air Canada With a Dog in the Cabin

Air Canada is a pet-friendly airline that allows cats and dogs in the cabin as long as they are small enough to fit in a carrier under the seat in front of you. When booking your Air Canada flight, you can opt to bring your furry friend on board with you for a fee. Small animals are permitted to fly domestically and internationally, but are not permitted in cargo or in the cabin on any flights to Hawaii, Australia, Jamaica, New Zealand, the UK and Trindad and Tobago . Only one pet is permitted per person, per flight.

Instructions

    • 1

Call Air Canada Reservations at 888-247-2262 within 24 hours of booking your own flight to book your dog's flight. Calling the reservations line is the only way to book a pet's flight. Calling within the 24 hour time frame of booking your reservation allows you to change your flight without penalty if your dog cannot be accommodated on your flight. If you attempt to make reservations more than 24 hours after your own have been booked and your dog cannot fly with you on that particular flight, you will incur charges to change your own flight.

Provide the age and weight of the dog to the Air Canada reservations representative, as well as the dimensions of the carrier you will bring your dog onboard in. Pets younger than eight weeks of age are not permitted to fly Air Canada.

    • 3

Provide the Air Canada reservations representative with your credit card information to pay for your dog's flight. Domestic flights cost $50 and international flights cost $100.
